What a permutator is actually for
It generates candidates, not answers. If you know someone's name and where they work, their address is almost certainly one of about seventeen formats — and a permutator writes them all out so you can verify them rather than guess one at a time.
The step that matters is the one after this page. A permutator that produces twenty addresses has produced at most one real one, and mailing all twenty is how people wreck a sending domain in a week.
Why bounces are so expensive
Mailbox providers treat a high bounce rate as one of the strongest signals that a sender is working from a scraped or guessed list. Reputation damage from a bad send persists well after you stop, and it affects every message from that domain — including the ones that would otherwise have landed.
So: generate here, verify elsewhere, send only to what comes back valid. Most sending platforms include verification, and dedicated verifiers are inexpensive relative to the cost of burning a domain. Our guide to email finder tools covers which ones bundle it.
Why there are no percentages here
Articles about email patterns routinely claim things like “X% of companies use first.last”. Those figures are almost never sourced, and where they are, they come from one vendor's customer base — which is not a random sample of companies.
We group patterns by how commonly they are used, and we call that a convention rather than a measurement, because that is what it is. If we ever measure it properly, the method will be published with the numbers.
Is anything I type stored?
No. Everything runs in your browser — there is no server call, so names and domains you enter are never transmitted or logged.
Before sending to anything you find, make sure the sending domain is set up correctly with the SPF/DKIM/DMARC checker, and check your copy with the spam word checker.
